Canon develops two CMOS sensors for video surveillance

Canon and Canon Marketing Japan have announced the CMOS sensors (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) of 1/1,8 inches LI7070SAC (Color) and LI7070SAM (monochrome) for security applications, Industrial & Medical.

The infrared sensitivity near the LI7070SAC has increased by approximately 2,4 times compared to that of the LI7050 (launched in October 2020), which also measures 1/1,8 inches and has about 2,12 Effective megapixels. This allows surveillance in dark environments that cannot be controlled with the naked eye.
These sensors can also be used in industrial environments, for the inspection of dark areas, and in medical settings, such as fluorescein angiography.
In addition to near-infrared capability, Both sensors incorporate a HDR mode that expands to a range 120 dB its capacity by a double exposure method that superimposes two images with different exposure times. This allows you to capture high-quality images while limiting overexposure and shadows in conditions where there is a large difference in brightness, such as when a light is turned on to carry out inspections inside tunnels.
The sensor achieves a range of 75 dB even when operating under normal conditions.
