Bosch keeps Romanian tyre factory safe
The security infrastructure of these facilities is based on the Building Integration System (Bis) of Bosch, that allows you to control, Integrate and manage the fire alarm system, along with other systems, using a single platform.
A Bosch fire detection system has been integrated into the tire manufacturing plant Continental Tires Timisora providing a scalable solution for future expansions, Support for system integration and reduced alert response time.
In its 25 Years of activity, This company has manufactured and supplied 300 millions of tyres to its customers around the world. The company produces a wide range of products according to the needs of the market, including Ultra High Performance tires (UHP), for electric cars and light commercial vehicles.
Fire detection in such a large facility must be of a consistently exceptional standard to keep all employees safe and protect valuable equipment, the large volumes of resources and the finished products stored.
Industrial plants of this type present fire hazards due to the materials being handled and processed, the numerous sources of energy and heat generated by the continuous operation of the machinery.
This is why the director of ESH, Nadia Ciuhat, and its team responsible for fire detection at Continental's plant in Timisoara, They were looking for a highly reliable solution that, as production spaces expanded, could be adapted accordingly to provide the same level of coverage and reliability everywhere.
Compatibility between all sensing components, Alarm and emergency response from a fire detection system was imperative to ensure effective monitoring of the entire site.
“Our main challenge revolved around the need for a fire detection solution that could be applied to the specified dimensions and adaptable to the frequent expansions of the plant”, explains Marius Girbaci, fire prevention coordinator at Continental Tires Timisoara.
The ESH director and her team studied various solutions and talked to system integrators and partners from Bosch Loznianu Bogdan, by Elkotech, based in Bucharest, and Raoul Florea, Managing Director of Atlantis Security in Timisoara.
These discussions led to a consultation with Bosch's local sales representative, Alex Jan, who turned to Iliya Dochev, Bosch Security and Safety Systems Regional Solutions Consultant who defined the technologies that could respond to the size of Continental's facilities and the future growth of the center.
“The solution that helped meet our client's needs is the Building Integration System (Bis), that allows you to control, Integrate and manage the fire alarm system, along with other systems, using a single platform”.
Once all parties agreed on Bosch's BIS management software as a basis, System Integrators Were Able to Start Their Essential Work.
All fire safety components are connected in the plant. This currently includes 66 Ties with 17 fire alarm control panels Avenar 8000, 3.500 Avenar detectors 4000, Intrusion Alarms and Alarm Buttons, among other modules.
As the system is fully scalable and backwards and forwards compatible, Facility expansions and remodeling will not interrupt fire detection.
The intelligent signal processing of modern Avenar detectors also helps to reduce false alarms, which is a great advantage for a plant like this, forced to deliver large volumes of innovative products on very tight deadlines.
Bosch Solutions Supplied:
- Avenar Fire Alarm Units (FPA).
- Avenar Detectors 4000 (Optical & Heat Detection).
- Intrusion Detection Coverage.
- Alarm buttons (MCP).
- Audible Alerts (Sirens).
