Enterprises take AI video beyond the security environment
Hanwha Vision shows in a study how companies are increasingly turning to AI video to solve challenges outside the security field. This is possible given its potential to optimize operations, provide data to develop strategy and planning and help protect people and assets.
An investigation of Hanwha Vision reveals that almost a third (31%) of European business leaders defend the Video with artificial intelligence as a means to solve your business challenges.
This is almost double the number that support automation and robotics (17%) and almost the same as those who consider 5G and the Internet of Things (We) as the key to solving your challenges (32%).
AI video combines Network Video Cameras with Artificial Intelligence For Automatically detect and classify objects, including people, vehicles and their specific attributes. Using in-camera algorithms, can alert users when specific behaviors are identified, as a vehicle driving in the wrong direction, a warehouse operator who does not use safety equipment or an unexpected object on a production line.
"This 2024 It is set to be the year in which video with artificial intelligence is widely used. Thanks to the growing knowledge of this technology at a general level and the proven business successes that use it, More leaders are turning to this technology to solve challenges outside the security field. Video has great potential to optimize operations, provide valuable data to develop strategy and planning and help protect people and assets. It is encouraging to see that so many organizations not only recognize this, but they plan to adopt AI video for these applications", comment Pread Um (Suk Bong), Product and Marketing Manager, Hanwha Vision Europe.
To better understand leaders' attitudes towards AI video, Hanwha Vision conducted a survey of 1,000 people from organizations in five European countries (United Kingdom, Netherlands, Italy, Germany and France). Operations and security leaders were asked about the technologies they will adopt to address a variety of strategic business challenges, How to find new efficiencies, Introduce new processes and control costs.
Respondents recognize the role that AI-powered video can play in solving these business challenges: More than one in two (55%) plan to use it to find new efficiencies and a similar number (49%) it does so to manage complex supply chains.
This more 'intelligent' use of video marks a big change from the security function that CCTV has historically fulfilled (Cctv) as it was previously known. In fact, the traditional role of video cameras in 'maintaining a safe environment' is cited by far fewer respondents in Hanwha Vision's research (26%).
Manufacturing industry leaders were the most receptive to leveraging technology to address their challenges, closely followed by those in the retail sector. Smart city authorities showed more limited enthusiasm for AI-powered video, the Internet of Things (We) and 5G, a surprising finding that contrasts with the broader vision of the 'Smart City'; I mean, better connect places with the people who live in them, visit and work on them.
While the research revealed that AI video technology is gaining popularity among a broad business audience, He also discovered possible Barriers to adoption. Chief among these was the alleged need for Technology training, cited by the 40 % of respondents. However, investing in intuitive video systems that work 'out of the box' can reduce the amount of training and know-how operators need to use AI video.
Another potential barrier to adoption lies, Perhaps as expected, on cybersecurity concerns. This is not exclusive to video technology, but could reflect broader concerns about data security and the potential for networked devices to be compromised. Work with responsible manufacturers who have a long-term commitment to cybersecurity best practices and comply with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) will help address these concerns.
