Metro de São Paulo deploys ISS facial recognition technology
The SecurOS Platform from Intelligent Security Systems (ISS) provides video intelligence for one of the largest transit systems in South America.
The Metro de São Paulo in Brazil (Also known as Companhia do Metropolitano) you have implemented the solution SecurOS FaceX ISS (Intelligent Security Systems) to protect passengers traveling on Red Line 3. It has approximately 1.400 cameras deployed in 18 transit stations, as well as at the stations of Itaquera and Belém.
The facial recognition solution was implemented by the Governor of the State of São Paulo at the Metro Operational Control Center.
New cameras will also be installed over the next few years. 18 months on several other Metro-managed train routes, including Line 2-Green and Line 1-Blue, which will also leverage the SecurOS platform for advanced video intelligence.
Last year, ISS Begins Work on the Latest Expansion of Metro's Security System, that it seeks to cover 55 additional transit stations over the next few 30 months and create a surveillance footprint that includes more than 5.000 Cameras.
In addition to SecurOS FaceX, ISS solutions, Including SecurOS Enterprise And SecurOS MCC, form the core of the extended security system, which also has the largest number of facial recognition licenses in South America.
The Electronic Monitoring System, covering the entire São Paulo Metro, It is connected to a centralized control center that enables real-time detection of suspicious activity and triggers alerts for security operators.
Leveraging AI-powered technology, The system automatically analyzes images, expanding each operator's ability to manage and respond to events anywhere in the system.
"The addition of more powerful video analytics to traditional monitoring systems has given metro system operators new tools to protect their operations, Staff and Public Users. Object Tracking, facial recognition, Detection of unattended objects or children. These are all powerful AI-powered security tools that are available for deployment in systems large and small.", Says Daniel Feitosa, Regional Director for Brazil at ISS.
It also provides object identification and tracking, as well as intrusion detection in restricted areas, Unaccompanied Child Screening, Missing persons, abnormal movements on the platforms and accurate counts of passenger flow, while respecting and strictly complying with Brazil's General Data Protection Law.
The City Council of the Capital and the Ministry of Public Security also acted as partners in this project.
"Metro de São Paulo is a fundamental economic and social infrastructure that serves more than 21 millions of inhabitants. This new expanded system will help improve the safety of our operational teams, our passengers and the general public throughout the Metro network", Explains Marcelo Lemos, Head of the Operation Engineering Department of São Paulo Metrô.
