Dahua responds to the security requirements of the new Costex headquarters
The installation of Costex Tractor Parts in Miami includes 190 IP cameras, Recorders, a DSS DHI-DSS4004-S2 server, another EVS DHI-EVS5016S-R and thirteen 16 And 24 ports of Dahua.
Costex Tractor Parts is a forty-year-old caterpillar and komatsu heavy equipment parts and engine dealer. For the security of its new headquarters, it has opted for Dahua technology.
When they were preparing to build a new headquarters of 106.680 square meters in Miami (Florida) they knew they needed a designed security system, installed and configured specifically for installation.
This project that has been carried out by the installer E.G.. Computers & Technologies, that opted for a scalable integral Dahua solution, easy to use and reliable.
Before construction begins, Evaristo Galvez, founder and president of E.G. Telecommunications and Technology (EGT&T), presented a plan for the new security system. Given the large number of square meters of the facility, which includes offices, a warehouse and a parking lot, decided to use fiber optic cable.
"The system is so big that it was designed with fiber optics.; needed to cover distances of 180 To 244 meters", Explained. "In the end, we install more than 6.000 meters of fiber".
Another effect of such a large building was that, although it needed a lot of camera coverage, Costex wanted the managers of each division to be able to access only the cameras that covered their respective departments.. At the same time, the owner and CEO wanted to be able to access all the cameras from his office.
In addition, wanted to implement a system that was scalable. As their facilities grew, wanted to be able to add more cameras and storage devices and integrate them with the existing system.
Installation includes 190 IP cameras, recorders with a total of 256 recording channels, a digital surveillance system server (Dss) DHI-DSS4004-S2, an extended video server (EVS) DHI-EVS5016S-R, and thirteen switches of 16 Ports DH-LR2218-16ET-240 Or 24 Ports DH-LR2226-24ET-360.
These transmission devices are PoE switches were chosen for their fiber capabilities and easy integration. Integrated with the web administration portal for easy system monitoring, and the Discovery feature allows switches to detect cameras and recorders quickly and automatically.
DSS Express de Dahua allowed Costex managers the access they needed to manage their specific departments. “We were able to provide nine customer stations, each with the ability to access some 20-30 cameras covering his apartment, and not accessing the cameras of other departments”, Explained Luis Gomez by Dahua Technology USA. “Each manager had access to their own cameras in their office on a TV of 50 inches and a connected client PC”.
DSS platform will allow Costex to access remote locations from the primary location as its footprint grows. It plans to expand to two more buildings and is already adding more cameras.. With almost 200 Cameras, storage capacities and reliability are crucial. The total storage requirement shall be more than 240 Tb. On the recommendation of Dahua, Galvez added an EVS of 16 HDD (DHI-EVS5016S-R) to the system to create redundancy.
“This gave Costex a failover recording system.”, Gómez clarifies. “If something happens to any of the NVRs or mainframe, this allows them to continue recording”.
The NVRs of 32 Channels DHI-NVR6A08-32-4KS2, each of which has a built-in storage of 24 TB and can accommodate up to 4K resolution, they also have full redundancy on their hard drives.
Gómez highlights the importance of this configuration. “If there is any damage to an NVR, they are only sacrificed 32 Cameras. We made sure each recorder received camera inputs in various departments, so that if an NVR failed, Costex would never lose all the images of a single department”.
