The Chilean neighborhood of Las Condes strengthens its security with Infinet Wireless

Infinet Wireless has deployed its wireless technology in more than 110 smart poles to make this neighborhood of Santiago de Chile a safer place.

The municipality of The Counts of Santiago de Chile has implemented a security system to protect residents and tourists. The company Infinet Wireless has been responsible for providing the connectivity technology. More than 110 smart poles have strategic interconnection points for the monitoring of the squares, panic buttons, And WiFi and PTZ cameras.

The project was proposed by the Department of Security of Las Condes to strengthen urban surveillance and offer connectivity and interaction services between citizens and control personnel..

Las Condes is a neighborhood, located in the Northeast of Santiago de Chile, that together with Providencia and the community of Santiago brings together the shopping centers, financial and tourist most important of the capital. Its commercial area is the busiest in the country, located between Avenida Andrés Bello and Barrio El Golf, where there are also two large hills, the Calán and Apoquindo.

The project was designed by the Chilean company WebPCX, key player in the implementation of technological solutions in the environment of "smart cities" and public safety.

WebPCX designed and developed a smart pole to improve the safety and quality of life of residents and tourists; while Ticashop Chile, Infinet Wireless partner and distributor of its solutions from 2017, participated in the project as an intermediary collaborator.

The "Smart Poles" project consisted of installing base stations Qmxb in the
Cerro Calán to interconnect the squares and an XG1000 trunk to the monitoring room. It's a link XG1000 and three base radio stations with Beamforming technology and 40 Equipment InfiLink. The distance traveled is an average of between 3 And 5 km and its capacity is 20 megabytes per pole or square. This ensures the bandwidth and fluidity in data transmission that was required.

Due to the good performance of wireless solutions, has 12 pole concentration nodes where it is estimated to continue growing and install equipment from the Quanta family of Infinet Wireless.

In its preliminary phase, TicaShop accompanied the customer in the field tests. A demo point with a strategic location was installed, that kept operating between 4 And 5 Months. This demo achieved satisfactory results, allowing the approval of the installation of the first smart poles.

The materialization of the first stage, consisting of the installation of the 30 first Smart posts, started in February 2019, while the following year the project continued to advance, with the implementation of more points, along with Infinet Wireless radio links.

In the network is included 80 points, to reach the 110 Structures. The 110 Smart poles were delivered to full customer satisfaction; residents and visitors of the area, who now enjoy a complete service and integrated in a single structure.

Each smart pole is equipped with enhanced safety tools, such as panic buttons and PTZ cameras for monitoring. Video and audio are transmitted over wireless links.

Additionally, a free WiFi network has been included for the use of visitors at each installed point; as well as, megaphones with SOS buttons, that can alert security personnel in case of an incident. The communication goes directly to the control room of the municipality of Las Condes.
