Synology unveils its first enterprise SATA hard drives
The company also has three new RackStation units available, of 12 And 16 Bays, prepared to meet any storage and security challenge.
Designed to increase the performance of your NAS, the manufacturer Synology has its first enterprise hard drives available for NAS, represented by the HAT5300 series, which features high-performance storage units of 8, 12 And 16 Tb.
In addition, the company has introduced the next generation of RackStation units, compatible with all your backup solutions, virtualization storage, remote surveillance and work, which consists of three models, of 12 And 16 Bays, to meet all the storage needs of small and medium-sized enterprises.
"We've developed our first series of hard drives," explains Michael Wang, Synology Product Manager-. The new RackStation drives are perfect models for installing HAT5300 discs, offering SMEs speed, expanded stability and capacity to keep all your data safe".
The new HAT5300 enterprise SATA hard drives are especially suitable for companies looking for high performance in their Synology installations with maximum reliability.
Validation tests performed with HAT5300 ensure seamless interaction between hard drives and Synology and DiskStation Manager systems (Dsm), and has automatic firmware updates via DSM.
"The new HAT5300 enterprise hard drives are great for storing business-critical data, as well as for creating mission-critical deployments that require capacity, reliability and cost-effective performance", underlines Peggy Weng, product manager at Synology.
Best-in-class performance
HAT5300 series units offer sustained data transfer of up to 274 MB/s, thanks to DSM's specific optimization, provide up to a 23% more speed in sustained sequential read performance in demanding multi-user environments.
They also have an MTTF rating of 2,5 millions of hours, support for workloads 550 TB per year and persistent write cache technology to minimize data corruption in the event of sudden power loss.
In addition to ensuring its performance in permanently used business environments, drives have an automatically updated firmware via DSM, reducing the working time of system administrators.
New RackStation units
In high-end storage, the new units RS3621RPxs and RS3621xs+ (of 12 bays and 2U), and RS4021xs+ (of 16 bays and 3U) are designed for SMEs that require high-performance general purpose storage.
Synology's new devices provide a reliable solution for applications that use a large amount of data, as large-scale backups, iSCSI SAN storage, on-premises collaboration solutions or video surveillance deployments.
That's what Julien Chen points out., product manager at Synology: "these units stand out for their versatility and high capacity, being solutions designed for SMEs and enterprise deployments. Built-in redundant power and Intel Xeon processors make them ideal devices for managing mission-critical data generated by large-scale video surveillance features, enterprise file servers, etc..
All three units have significant performance improvements compared to previous models. The RS3621RPxs offers a 68% more random read IOPS than its predecessor, A 50% more than RS3621xs+ and a 2% more than RS4021xs+.
In addition, the RS3621xs+ and RS4021xs+ units incorporate two 10 GbE to provide faster connectivity from the get-go. The two PCIe Gen slots 3.0 8x allow updates with NICs 10 GbE supported, as well as with NVMe SSD cache.
The RS3621RPxs and RS3621xs+ can be scaled up to 36 Bays, and the RS4021xs+ up to 40 bays using two RX1217 expansion units(Rp), as well as validated units.
Business solutions and video surveillance
Through Active Backup for Business, Synology storage solutions protect Windows and Linux workstations and servers, as well as file servers and VMware and Hyper-V virtual machines.
It is also possible to back up Microsoft 365 with Active Backup for Microsoft 365, or through Google Workspace accounts with Active Backup for G Suite.
By deploying Surveillance Station on a Synology NAS it is possible to manage, store and analyze video surveillance functions. The RS3621xs+ and RS4021xs+ models offer support for up to ninety cameras, and the RS3621RPxs 75 video surveillance devices.
