Synology develops two compact storage units for SMEs
The new RS1221+ and RS1221RP+ devices combine high performance and reduced design to accommodate small spaces, rack 2U.
The RackStation RS1221+ and RS1221RP+ storage units that Synology just filed and already available on the market, are 2U rack-mounted storage servers 8 bays with redundant power, designed to provide SMEs with high and reliable performance, with a compact format that saves space in the installation.
As Michael Wang explains, Synology Product Manager, "these devices not only offer a big leap in performance, they also have a reduced depth for a 2U unit, adapting to any environment. For companies that require greater availability, the RP+ version is equipped with two power supplies for greater redundancy and reliability”.
New processors
The RS1221+ and RS1221RP+ are the first in the RackStation series to include the AMD Ryzen V1500B processor, allowing you to deliver computing performance 3,6 times higher, Random read IOPS 3,8 times older, until we reach the 108.000, and sequential write performance 2,3 times higher, reaching the 1.147 MB/s.
This provides faster performance in business data backup and management tasks, in addition to offering the ability to expand the number of connected users and active services simultaneously.
Its compact design makes it easy to install in limited spaces. With just 306,6 mm and 407,5 mm deep (including front-end server handles), these units have a 50% less depth than standard 2U rack mount devices; an ideal choice for wall-mounted cabinets or two-post racks (RS1221+ only).
These units offer a default setting, With 4 GB of DDR4 ECC memory that can be extended up to 32GB. They have a PCIe slot 3.0 that allows you to easily climb up to 10 GbE with a compatible NIC, or add a super-fast NVMe cache with Synology M.2 cards and SVN3000 series SSDs from the manufacturer.
It is also possible to expand storage to 12 bays using an RX418 expansion unit or other compatible units. Synology offers the ability to extend warranty up to five years through EW201 package.
Simple administration and protection
DiskStation Manager (Dsm), Synology's Unified Operating System, simplifies the most complex data management processes, while providing control over their decisions to users.
This system allows you to back up your IT infrastructure with Synology Active Backup Suite and host a private cloud on-premises with Drive, create virtual machines with Virtual Machine Manager, or mail servers with MailPlus, as well as other SaaS services.
