Synology offers eight bays and more power on its new DS1821+
This NAS features a next-generation processor that provides higher performance, storage capacity and response speed.
Available on the market now, Synology has introduced its new DS1821+ high-capacity NAS storage unit, a high-performance, eight-bay system designed for large-scale data management and storage.
DS1821+ provides content creators and businesses with Synology's complete application ecosystem and expandable storage capacity.
That's what Julien Chen explains, Synology product manager: "our users demand new data management solutions that meet their needs and meet all performance and capacity requirements. DS1821+ is specially designed for those looking for a versatile storage solution, powerful and safe, even in demanding multi-user environments".
This model incorporates a processor Amd RyzenTM four-core, becoming the most powerful unit in the manufacturer's Plus series, so that this new NAS doubles the capacity of its predecessor, delivering superior performance and faster response time in demanding file processing applications such as Synology Drive or Moments.
It has two slots compatible with Synology NVMe SNV3400 SSD cache drives, which allows you to multiply the random transmission performance by twenty in the most frequently accessed data. It is also possible to install a NIC of 10 GbE PCIe to increase network performance, reaching more than 2.312,97 MB/s sequential reading and 1.149,89 Sequential write MB/s.
Flexible and expandable storage
Synology DS1821+ has eight bays for SATA LFF disks (3,5") o SFF (2,5"), that can be expanded to eighteen using two DX517 expansion units. The DiskStation Manager operating system (Dsm) Synology allows you to establish JBOD and RAID0 processes, 1, 5, 6 And 10.
In addition, thanks to Synology Hybrid RAID (Shr) users can create arrays using an odd number of units, while increasing the storage potential of the array. In this way it is possible to use old units with different capacities.
The DSM operating system also allows you to upgrade storage capacity, after setting up the device easily, adding new units to expand the matrix. The process does not disrupt NAS services or functions and can also be extended to RAID configuration, moving from a lower to a higher level in a simple way.
Professional data protection
Synology backup and restore solutions protect stored data, both in DS1821+ and in external locations. Active Backup Suite protects IT infrastructure by performing efficient, centralized backups, from Windows and Linux-based servers and computers, virtual machines in VMware hypervision and Hyper-V, and Google Workspace and Microsoft platforms 365 Saas.
As a complement, Snapshot Replication creates periodic and programmable recovery points, allowing you to undo unwanted edits quickly, even in the case of ciphers Ransomware in shared folders or iSCSI LUNs.
In addition, With Synology Hyper Backup it is possible to get extra protection by scheduling backups on other NAS of the manufacturer, on USB drives, Synology C2 cloud or public cloud providers.
DiskStation Manager 7.0
Moreover, the company has introduced the new version of its DiskStation Manager operating system (Dsm) during your virtual event 2021 AND Beyond, which has been completely redesigned and offers new storage features, creating hybrid cloud access and backups on the manufacturer's NAS and data management systems.
"The amount of data processed on a daily basis is constantly increasing. The evolution of artificial intelligence, We, telemedicine or data analysis require computer equipment to have greater capacity and performance," says Philip Wong, founder and CEO of Synology-. This has a huge impact on our lifestyle and the way we do business, generating a 'data economy' that offers competitive advantages to businesses".
Dsm 7.0 improves all aspects of Synology's operating system, from storage management and user interface, up to cloud-compatible features, such as large-scale device monitoring and on-demand storage.
"We have built DSM 7.0 about previous versions of our platform to address major security challenges, reliability and management that is present. We design our solutions to serve both individuals and SMEs, large companies or data managers", says Wong.
