Chausson Materiaux centralizes store security with Synology
A RackStation RS18017xs+ has been installed at its headquarters as a host server, where transmissions are received from the 2.000 IP cameras that are installed in their 350 Shops.
Chausson Matériaux is a family business established in France in 1921 which focuses its activity on the manufacture of building materials. It has a total of 350 Shops, 57 Departments, 6 logistics platforms, 33 construction sites and a total of 3.600 Employees.
For many years, their stores were vulnerable to theft, which caused a big financial loss. As a safety measure, each establishment used its own remote alarm system, service-based. When an alarm was triggered, a security guard answered the call. This was an expensive and outdated system that led to late responses and asset theft.
That's why he decided to look for a cost-effective security solution, centralized and flexible to monitor the surveillance system for 350 Shops, made up of 2.000 IP cameras, from its headquarters in Toulouse. In addition, should help prevent possible theft. They needed a scalable and centralized security system.
To meet the company's requirements, opted for the technology of Synology. Specifically, a RackStation RS18017xs+ has been used as a host server on the CMS (Centralized Management System). This rack unit has been installed at headquarters and receives transmissions from the cameras of its 350 stores in France.
Each NAS installed in your stores is managed as a CMS recording server. These units, including DS216j, DS216play, DS218play and DS218j, are directly connected to six or eight IP cameras, recording in Full HD and 12 Fps, with motion detection settings.
Recording is scheduled 24/24 And 7/7, providing continuous and complete monitoring of your entire business. In addition, each recording server automatically sends the real-time camera stream of 2.000 low-resolution cameras to save bandwidth on the CMS host NAS, RS18017xs+.
Chausson Matériaux has already implemented more than a hundred DiskStations, one per store. To monitor them, three security guards operate in different shifts at headquarters near Toulouse. With the E-map app (electronic maps) at CMS, have access to the different electronic maps displayed on the screen and can manage each of the stores. In the event of an intrusion, can quickly and easily detect the exact position of the intruder at a specific location and at a specific time.
When motion detection is activated, the alert is displayed through a pop-up window, the security guard can call the store directly using IP telephony, connect to a speaker and deter the intruder. While notifying the police.
“Synology's surveillance solution is the best we've ever had. Thanks to the CMS, the administration of 2,000 cameras implemented in 350 shops has never been easier. It's profitable and helps us keep our most valuable products safe”, comments Benjamin Piumi, IT manager at Chausson Matériaux.
