Dallmeier brings its latest video technology to the innovative Austrian plus city shopping centre

More than two hundred network cameras of different models of this manufacturer, including Panomera technology, guarantee a quiet shopping and leisure experience in this facility.

"E2K2: Please, take me to the nearest ice cream shop" For now, this type of communication does not work by voice control, but through a screen, but nevertheless the person is guided to the right store by a small robot called E2K2.

Just as the technological advances of the future have entered pasching's Plus City shopping and leisure centre (in what is known as Upper Austria), security technology could not be left behind and has undergone a major update in recent months, since this installation has relied on the latest cameras from the manufacturer Dallmeier, so that E2K2 it is no longer the only one dedicated to the safety and comfort of visitors.

The Plus City shopping center has wanted to evolve to offer the best service to its visitors adopted to the new times and needs. This has been the objective of the concept 'From the shopping center to the city of leisure', that has been very well received by users and has become a reality.

The combination of a unique architecture (has the largest glass dome of this type of facility in the world) with an innovative recreational offer has turned this facility into one of the great attractions for the public that resides in this area.

In addition to more than two hundred stores, Plus City offers many leisure activities: from the Piratenland for kids to a Skybeach, evening events, in addition to IMAX and 4DX cinema, which has the largest screen in Austria. Without forgetting as an attraction its dome: the largest glass in a shopping mall in the world that provides a bright and pleasant atmosphere.

Analog to IP

This permanent evolution of Plus City is largely due to the initiatives of its manager., Ernst Kirchmayr, not only in terms of improving the visitor experience with technological innovations, but also in the area of security, in which they can enjoy a quiet leisure experience with all the guarantees of protection.

With the expansion of the shopping center and the increase in the number of visitors, modernizing the security system was a priority. As a customer of Dallmeier and its business partner in Austria, G4S Security Systems, Plus City has been trusting since 2005 in video technology (then still analog) from the manufacturer of Regensburg, that has been constantly expanded and modernized over the years and that is currently reflected in an IP video security system, integrated into a network with more than two hundred cameras.

Video technology is a fixed component in our daily work to ensure the safety of visitors.", explains Michael Pechmann, Head of Security and Technology at Plus City

Surveillance of neuralgic points such as, For example, the escalators of the mall, the cinema area, the large squares and entrances, is very important in the work of the safety team to avoid accidents, and very specifically that of its smallest visitors, so that children enjoy piratenland under the 'watchful eye' of several cameras.

Additionally, devices have also been installed, both for the surveillance of the car parks and at the Plus City tram station, built by the company itself to facilitate accessibility and environmental sustainability.

Sensors for lighting challenges

Austria's largest glass dome is a masterpiece of architecture and a differential element of the mall, which also demands the most from camera and sensor technology, because the high incidence of light leads to reflections on glazed surfaces and reflective tiles.

These nice sets of lights are nice to see, and for this they have had to compensate with the special sensor and encoder technology and the lighting features of the Dallmeier cameras, that allow you to capture images with better contrast, clarity and maximum resolution. With a total of two hundred cameras that, depending on your field of application, are boxed models, dome and, for a year, Also Panomera.

The names of two of the rest areas inside Plus City suggest a Mediterranean atmosphere: Palmenplatz and Marcusplatz (the squares of Las Palmeras and San Marcos), for whose protection Dallmeier multifocal sensor technology is used for the first time.

With Panomeraes systems it is possible to fully monitor the extensive area around these squares, with uniform resolution and continuous depth of field, so that a few systems are enough where until now many megapixel cameras were needed.

To determine the correct camera models and locations, planning specialists from Dallmeier's 3D engineering team developed the project using a three-dimensional model (camera viewing angle, location, scope,...), with which it is possible to plan everything down to the smallest detail and that there are no surprises later.

With this 3D project, all components have been preconfigured as a complete solution in the Factory Acceptance Test itself (FAT) of Dallmeier and, At last, subjected to a thorough test to ensure a functionality of the 100% of the entire system, a smooth implementation and immediate start-up on-site.

SmartFinder and mobile app in daily activities

From the user's point of view, Dallmeier App DMVC and SmartFinder are for the security managers of the center two of the most important tools for their work. "With SmartFinder, a system for intelligent search by movement in the image, we can look for incidents in video recordings very quickly", says Michael Pechmann.

But live access via mobile device is also essential in their work.. A problem can be detected and verified quickly and easily by means of the corresponding alarm on the smartphone in case of need and give an equally fast and efficient response.

Another important aspect is that there is no attempt to hide video surveillance. On the contrary, operators attach enormous importance to their open and transparent communication policy, which in turn provokes a positive feeling in customers, since in the sensitive issue of data protection, open and sincere treatment is essential.

Additionally, the corresponding data protection and security modules that Dallmeier offers within the framework of the GDPR inspire the necessary confidence that video surveillance will be treated in a professional and sensitive manner.
