Manchester airport installs monitoring system to ensure passenger safety
Six Libelium Meshlium devices have been installed to monitor the movement and behaviour of people inside the airport. This information is sent to Innotech Insights' Crowded platform to analyze the data.
The Manchester Airport has become one of the most trafficked people annually in the United Kingdom. This is why they are increasingly concerned with achieving a safer environment..
One of the latest initiatives they have carried out has been done in collaboration with Innotech Insights And Libelium, that have contributed their technologies to analyze the behavior of travelers and dispose, Like this, of relevant information that allows them to act in emergency situations.
In different parts of the airport, six Meshlium devices from the libelium firm have been installed to monitor the movement and behavior of people inside the airport.
Meshlium Scanner can detect any device that works with WiFi or Bluetooth, is or is not connected to a specific access point. This allows detection of any smartphone, laptop or hands-free device that is in your coverage area, at a certain point and at a specific time.
Meshlium Scanner collects analytical anonymized data by collecting WiFi signals within sensor areas and automatically transmitted to the Crowded platform, created by Innotech Insights. This analyzes the data and automatically generates graphs and visual maps.
The initial requirement for this project was to monitor the movement of pedestrians around the airport in different locations in order to analyze the volume of visitors per day., identify and track all captured visitors as “unique individuals” to delineate actual travel or areas where bottlenecks are general and thus be able to highlight potential safety issues.
These measurements are extremely useful for predicting people's needs at airports and tracking evacuation and safety routes..
Moreover, Meshlium scanner technology can be complemented by sensor networks that identify environmental conditions within airport facilities (Moisture, Temperature, noise or air quality), allowing managers to guarantee their commercial spaces a level of comfort in which they operate.
