Axis cameras modernize Tuluá City Council surveillance equipment
To renew the video surveillance infrastructure of this Colombian municipality have been installed 25 Axis cameras of the P3225-LV MK II, for common areas, and P3707-PE, for the car park. On the outside, the P1405-LE MK II and the P5624-E MK II PTZ dome have been chosen.
The Tuluá City Council (Colombia), It required a new video surveillance system as it had very basic cameras that did not allow optimal monitoring or meet the needs of the consistory. They were looking for an effective solution, scalable and that will protect the interior and exterior of the facilities.
To carry out the project, he decided to go to the integrator Spectra, which has been in charge of directing and implementing the new infrastructure integrated by 25 Cameras Axis that have replaced the 38 that existed previously.
The cameras cover a wider range of monitoring and cover areas that were not being monitored, such as the one in front of the building and the access to the mayor's car park. The models selected were the P3225-LV Mk II fixed domes, that were distributed in all common areas; for the car park, the P3707-PE panoramic cameras have been provided, that incorporate 4 Lenses for 360° fixed vision; and the P1405-LE Mk II bullet type and the P5624-E Mk II PTZ dome have been installed outdoors, Designed for continuous horizontal motion.
The building where the Tuluá mayor's office resides is located in the foundational heart of the municipality, in front of the main park and in an area with local and regional historical significance. So, One of the objectives of modernizing the video surveillance system was to support the conservation and care of the facades of the buildings, protecting them from vandalism.
This is what it has been installed for this purpose., On the corner of City Hall, an Axis P5624-E Mk II camera. Thanks to its continuous 360° panorama, It allows uninterrupted surveillance that has provided the authorities of the municipality with relevant material when public order situations or traffic accidents arise.
The underground car parks of the mayor's office had 8 cameras that reached 8 Fixed Points. These were replaced by four Axis P3707-PE machines, A model that offers a horizontal panoramic view and responds optimally in low-light environments. In addition, it is equipped with WDR technology, which compensates for the backlit effect that occurs at some points.
This same model was used for access to the municipal administration. As directed by Spectra's engineering department, "In this area, The previous camera had a very narrow field and generated almost indecipherable images. Now we are able to get the security forces to even identify potentially dangerous situations, such as packages or vehicles left at the entrance to the building, all in detail".
The new infrastructure offers optimal surveillance in all public areas of the building and provides a scalable solution that takes into account future needs that may arise.
The City Council of Tuluá plans a second phase in this implementation, where video surveillance is increased and video analytics are implemented for various tasks, These could include reading vehicle license plates or facial recognition of staff working on the premises.
