The organization for interoperability and standardization for networked physical security products Onvif (Open Network Video Interface Forum) presented Open Source Spotlight Challenge, a call, two-month duration, to develop open source applications to create IP video streaming solutions that help improve security.

In collaboration with the agency BeMyApp, this Onvif challenge is also accompanied by awards for those developments that use the protocol to create mobile or open source applications in the proposed challenge, with easy and secure access from any platform.

OnvifAs Per Bjorkdahl points out, chairman of Onvif's steering committee, "as the need for interoperability grows significantly in other industries, it is more important than ever to seek innovative physical security solutions to ensure that interoperability with the highest levels of efficiency, safety and reliability, and that's why we're looking forward to learning about the new ideas that developers will offer".

Specifically,, professionals participating in the Open Source Spolight Challenge need to connect to prototypes of online cameras with functionality of the new T-profile (to develop advanced streaming) from manufacturers like Axis Communications, Bosch Security, Dahua, Hikvision and Uniview.

OnvifIn addition, you'll have access to tutorial videos to guide you in developing a mobile or desktop security app using CTM on Windows, iOS on Apple, Java on Android or JavaScript that connects to an IP camera.

Innovation, the feasibility of the application, functionality and ease of management and use are the main parameters for selecting the best development that meets this Onvif challenge, who can participate until the next 3 June, the day on which the application development delivery will end and the winners of which will be known by the end of that month.
