Bosch helps manage the influx of visitors to the Serralves Museum
The solution provided is based on an installation of Flexidome IP Panoramic video cameras 7000 inside and outside the museum, that are connected to the Bosch Remote Portal service.
Porto is home to one of the most important art and architecture foundations in Portugal, The Serralves Foundation, managed by the Museum of Contemporary Art of the same name and Serralves Park. Both are national monuments, which is the most important heritage classification in Portugal.
In recent years, the Serralves Museum has become the most popular in the country, receiving more than 300.000 visitors by year. They are attracted to cultural events such as the recent exhibition by Spanish artist Joan Miró. Some of the more than 80 works on display, never before had they been exposed to the public.
With such a high flow of visitors, the Serralves Foundation sought support to manage this influx. Administrators wanted to be able to identify the days when it would be highest or lowest, to adjust staffing levels, reduce long waits at entrances and avoid dangerous crowds in showrooms.
To respond to these challenges, Bosch has provided a solution to the Foundation based on an installation of flexidome ip panoramic video cameras 7000 inside and outside the museum, which later, have been connected to the Remote Portal service.
These cameras provide a complete view of 360 degrees without blind spots, of a given scene. And also, thanks to its built-in video analytics feature as standard, are able to interpret what they see. In this way, they don't just capture and stream video images, they can also incorporate associated data, as the object type, size or speed.
The Remote Portal software is a service that allows installers to access any Bosch IP camera through the cloud, to configure applications, monitor its status or enable counting reports.
This solution allows the museum administration to perform a count of visitors and transmit it in real time, in addition to allowing the creation of reports on visitor traffic during a day, one week or several months. All this data can be easily exported to other applications.
With this information, the Serralves Foundation is able to plan and organize staff and other resources well in advance. If necessary, security guards can prevent more visitors from entering the Miró Museum. In this way, a better management of visitor traffic is achieved throughout the year, ensuring that all of them can fully enjoy the works of art.
