Indra Horus manages India's longest tunnel safety and ITS systems
This platform allows to centralize the management of the different intelligent traffic and security systems that the tunnel has such as automatic incident detection and video surveillance, traffic control, Signaling, fire detection, access control or emergency calls. All of them supplied by Indra.
With its 9,2 Kilometers, Chenani road tunnel is the longest in India and throughout Southeast Asia, To provide this infrastructure with maximum operability and efficiency, in addition to providing users with greater security, Indra has taken responsibility for the design, Development, implementation and implementation of its management system, based on the Horus solution.
Chenani Tunnel, opened last April, is a strategic infrastructure for India that reduces travel time between the cities of Jammu and Srinagar by two hours, on the national road 44, north of the country. It has been designed, built and operated by IL&FS Transportation Networks, the country's largest toll road company, that has had the most advanced tunneling technology and intelligent solutions like Indra, in order to make it the safest in Asia.
Indra's technology helps ensure uninterrupted and safe circulation in an area, located at 1.200 meters high, where adverse weather conditions are common, avalanche of dirt and snow, and vehicle breakdowns.
The Horus platform enables integrated and centralized management of different intelligent traffic systems (ITS) and security that the tunnel has. Among the systems, also installed by Indra, there are automatic incident detection and video surveillance, traffic control, Signaling, fire detection, access control, or emergency calls, as well as other subsystems supplied by local companies, such as lighting systems, Ventilation, communication or energy, that Horus also integrates.
The vision offered by Indra's solution to the operator allows to control the state of the road at all times and have real-time information for decision making, a key aspect of an infrastructure of this magnitude.
The level of automation of operations facilitates fast and accurate management of everything that happens in the tunnel, both in day-to-day management and in emergencies. The solution makes it possible, In addition, provide drivers with information on time, helping to reduce the risk of incidents and optimizing resource utilization.
