The city of Port ST. Lucie securizes her leisure areas with an IP video surveillance solution
In the initial deployment they were installed 98 Quasar cameras 5 Flir MP to offer coverage to an extra park 145.000 square meters. Today the facility has been extended to other areas of the city and the infrastructure has 400 HD cameras, joined via Horizon NVRs, which are managed by the Latitude VMS.
North of Miami (Florida – California) is located Port St. Lucie, a city that has developed rapidly in recent years to reach today with a population of more than 170.000 Residents.
With that growth, Port St. Lucie was facing new challenges of security and citizen protection so she decided, from the hand of the company SecurPoint, install a wireless video surveillance system based on IP technology Flir.
The project was started in one of the largest parks in the city with the aim of continuing to expand the deployment to other areas according to the results obtained. For this reason it was designed with a view to future expansion, that would allow it to be scaled quickly and easily.
The park chosen to start the deployment was Whispering Pines Park, given its size of 145.686 square meters as well as for having numerous facilities among which are a baseball field and another football field, tennis courts, children's games, as well as open spaces, parking and common accesses.
SecurPoint worked with Flir to create an integrated solution by 98 Quasar cameras 5 MP that incorporates the function for capturing infrared images in a way that would allow security personnel to identify potentially problematic activities in the park at night and when heavy rains occur, something that is very common along the Coast of Florida.
On the football field were installed, on poles using high-speed wireless networks, 25 cameras that allow you to control both the playing surface and the stands. These devices are controlled by a centralized Flir Horizon network video recording system.
“The high-speed wireless network allowed us to place the cameras virtually anywhere, without being limited by nearby wiring or structures. I am surprised by the number of cameras and the quality of the images that we can manage from a single centralized server”, explains Brian Morell, CEO of SecurPoint.
Given the optimal results obtained in this area, it was decided to expand the infrastructure and take it to other parks.. It currently has a security park composed of 400 high definition cameras, all of them connected through Horizon NVRs and a video management system (Vms – Video Management System) centralized Latitude.
