The fourteenth edition of the Symposium 2015 by Ingram Micro, held a few days ago in Barcelona, has served to know some lines of development of the recently created Physical Security division, that structured around ip security manufacturer Axis Communications, is now included in the value organization of the wholesaler, under the responsibility of Jordi Muñoz.

Ingram Micro Symposium 2015

Since the official creation of the Physical Security division of Ingram Micro last June (more details on Digital AV Magazine) the elements that structure it have been shelled little by little, around the manufacturer of network security systems Axis Communications, with the incorporation of new manufacturers "both cameras", as management software (Vms) and storage, as D-Link, Synology, Trendnet, Buffalo, Milestone, etc., as Jordi Muñoz has pointed out, director of the wholesaler's value division, during the recent celebration of the Symposium 2015, in the Dome of the Sands of Barcelona.

Precisely in this reference event of Ingram Micro with the channel, the Swedish multinational Axis has had for the first time a stand in the exhibition space, that this year has doubled its surface, to show the 2.500 professionals who have assisted their proposal of security and value solutions around the offer of the wholesaler.

One of the novelties announced has been the integration into a single organization of the divisions of the value business: Advanced Solutions (data center/IT), Digital Signage, DC/POS and the recent Physical Security, under the direction of Jordi Muñoz. "It is not just a transactional model," stresses this executive., but of joint development of value solutions with synergies between these four areas of great growth, which will be joined by another of upcoming creation of unified communications and collaboration".

Specifically,, Muñoz has referred to this development connection between the business areas under his responsibility, such as Physical Security and DC/POS, "with a solution of network security cameras connected to the POS, that many retail companies demand. The challenge is to work in different security environments that are attractive to manufacturers and open the proposals to partners in the IT market or that were until now focused on analog security and have to migrate to IP".

Axis Symposium2015 Ingram MicroTo this is also added the challenge and investment of Ingram Micro to "provide all this value offer with professional and specialized services in a structured way to market not only products, but services, for which we are making significant investments and putting our own technical resources", this manager points out.

Regarding the doubts that the new physical security business unit of the wholesaler will focus on Axis, company acquired by Canon at the beginning of this year (more information on Digital Security Magazine), and that previously, in June 2014, also bought the open platform video management company (Vms) Milestone (more data in this Link), Muñoz made it clear: "Axis continues to operate today as an independent company from Canon., just like Milestone, and is not expected to join the division".

Ingram Micro Symposium 2015In this sense, the wholesaler will be present at the edition 2015 axis solution conference, which will take place next year 29 October in Madrid with its partners. As Manuel Méndez explains, Director of Physical Security, "It's about creating an ecosystem of companies whose solutions can operate with Axis' in both management software., as storage, Etc. and with synergies with other lines of value business, as AV Pro in retail or control centers; DC/POS, with the integration of Axis cameras with those of Honeywell to provide security in the POS".

As this manager points out, the growth of Physical Security "is very large and therefore new companies will be incorporated, as is the case of the German Sitec, with a very powerful traceability and logistics software, or the Canadian Aimetix, with a VMS that has already used Axis; or with Synology NAS systems that are particularly suitable for the security market and include elements such as people counting, etc..
