Norton and film director Sean Dunne have produced "In Search of the Most Dangerous City on the Internet", a documentary that puts a face to the problem of cybercrime.
"In Search of the Most Dangerous City on the Internet" is the documentary he has presented Norton by Symantec and produced by independent film director Sean Dunne to offer insight into hacker culture and philosophy, as well as the socio-economic factors that foster the current underground information economy in Romania.
Norton embarked on the production of the documentary "The most dangerous city" as a means to put real faces to the problem of cybercrime and reveal the reality of the human element behind this threatening landscape.
Set in post-communist Romania, in the city of Râmnicu Vâlcea, known as Hackerville, the documentary, which can be viewed online, shows a bold vision of the people who create and fight against one of the largest hacker communities in the world.
From scam to phishing and master hacking, there is a large predominance of sophisticated hackers in Râmnicu Vâlcea, Romania. Taking into consideration the set of motivations that exist there, the documentary team chose Romania and the film crew set out to explore what allows cybercrime to both manifest and sustain itself..
In interviews with convicted hackers and scammers who compromised personal and government accounts, including NASA, the European Space Agency, George Bush, Hillary Clinton and the British Royal Navy, reveal their methods, motivations and the reasons why they chose to dedicate themselves to a life of cybercrime.
