Milan Cathedral transitions to IP technology to protect its heritage
With a flexible transition from your analog system to one based on IP technology, the Cathedral of Milan (Duomo) has relied on the servers and hybrid recorders of the manufacturer exacqVision and the installation of new network devices to protect the thousands of faithful and visitors who come to know its historical heritage with guarantees for the future.
Gothic style and one of the most visited in the world, The Milan Cathedral (duomo di Milano) can accommodate 40.000 people inside. As the episcopal see of the Archdiocese of this Italian city, the security to celebrate the religious acts that take place in it, as well as its heritage is fundamental given the high traffic of faithful and tourists who come there.
Until recently, the security system was based on an analog CCTV solution and therefore it was decided to install a more current and reliable one based on IP video surveillance technology, but also allow to use some of the cameras already distributed by this religious enclosure.
After analyzing some market proposals, The chosen option is based on three hybrid network video recorders of exacqVision, specifically the NVR LC-Series, that allow those responsible for security of the cathedral to connect the 32 existing analog cameras and use the current IP network infrastructure with a longer range system, Flexible and scalable.
The project, made by your Italian distributor SIQR, also allowed to incorporate new IP video surveillance cameras and select them among hundreds of models on the market compatible with the exacqVision system, with the installation of fourteen new networked devices 2 megapixel SIQR Sentry, that provide HD video, More coverage and a higher aspect ratio so operators can zoom in and out and visualize every detail.
The new IP cameras have been strategically installed on the perimeter of the cathedral and inside, in the busiest areas and where the most valuable pieces of art of the religious historical heritage are located, not only in Milan, but from Italy.
Each server has the professional video management system pre-installed at the factory (Vms) exacqVision Pro Software from this manufacturer, so that Milan Cathedral security operators can view images on their portable devices using the free client web application, and easily control the images shown by each of the cameras, as well as perform quick searches by timeline, the exact time and receive alarms to view a video or specific image.
