Sony Professional looks at this year's video surveillance market trends
Higher image resolution, with 4K technology and in low-light conditions; integrating security devices with other systems into a facility or the geographical change of countries that will boost the security market are the points that Roger Lawrence, Sony Professional Solutions Europe's video surveillance product manager, analyzes in this Grandstand.
Last year, we witnessed how many exciting new technologies were established in the video surveillance market, with a capacity in the systems that increases every year and that in 2015 is already being observed (consult the Grandstand published in Digital Security Magazine).
Image resolution and improved quality will continue to be part of the growth and performance of the video surveillance market this year. Full HD resolution has already been set as the usual standard for high-quality security devices and now it's up to the HD standard for 4K images.
This high-resolution standard is now available without compromising frame rate or light sensitivity, limitations present in previous generations of cameras with many megapixels.
4K technology will bring with it a significant improvement in the user experience: will allow them to monitor large areas with fewer cameras, because they will be able to zoom in and view the images in ultra high definition.
Other visual enhancement technologies will also play an important role in the future of the market, since, For example, increasingly meets demand for infrared technology and sensitivity in low-light environments in HD resolution. In addition, this is complemented by high-performance image processing that ensures quality even in low-light conditions.
Added to this is also a greater interest in multidimensional network cameras, especially because of the models of 360 Degrees, that allow users to make the most of the coverage area with more efficient technology.
Today's video surveillance solutions have been significantly simplified from a few years ago. During the present 2015, we'll see how various security elements are integrated (like CCTV, alarm and access control systems) in larger infrastructures.
In addition, the market will evolve to offer more unified solutions, that don't just include security solutions, but also lighting, heating and ventilation in buildings. This will create a much more integrated environment that will allow users to monitor energy conditions and monitor busy or high-priority areas, while saving resources in vacated spaces.
Finally,, we will see a geographical change in the countries that will drive market progress. Even if Europe and North America maintain their position as market leaders, the sector will pay more attention to the opportunities that may arise in China. We hope that the latter country will actively look for opportunities on the world stage, which will make 2015 it's a very competitive and exciting year for the entire security industry.
