WD Purple expands IoT capabilities in video surveillance environments with units up to 6TB
The range of WD Purple hard drives has been completed with the addition of a 6TB model, Units that adapt to both new and deployed video surveillance environments and support workloads 24×7 and systems with up to eight bays and 32 HD video cameras.
Wd, Western Digital company, completes its WD Purple line of hard drives 3,5 inches for video surveillance applications with a 6TB drive, the largest capacity in the range that stops 1 Tb. "Video surveillance has long been a pioneering application of the Internet of Things. Powered by machine-to-machine interaction between high-resolution, high-bitrate video cameras, and high-capacity video surveillance recorders, IoT enables access and analysis of Big Data to improve user security", comment Matt Rutledge, Vice President and Group General Manager, WD Storage Technology.
WD Purple drives are equipped with some WD-exclusive technologies such as AllFrame or IntelliSeek.
AllFrame technology, combined with ATA streaming support, reduces frame loss, Improves playback and enables compatibility on systems with a larger number of bays. WD Purple includes firmware updates that enable improved playback and reduce video surveillance system outages.
IntelliSeek technology reduces power consumption and plays a crucial role in reducing the temperature of constantly connected video surveillance environments. Calculates search speed for system workload, allowing lower consumption and reducing noise and vibration.
WD Purple hard drives have been created to be integrated into new video surveillance systems or those already installed, and tested to surveillance market standards to be compatible with major chassis and chipsets on the market.
