TTC control center monitors Toronto's transportation network from the newly updated videowall that has been configured with Delta Displays' Rear Projection LED Cube solution.

Advanced videowall by Delta Display on TTC

The Toronto Transit Commission (Toronto Transit Commission – Ttc), which houses one of the largest control rooms in North America, wanted to upgrade its viewing system and incorporate a safer and more reliable videowall to oversee Toronto's public transportation system.

For its configuration, the Rear Projection LED Cube solution was chosen Delta Displays ensuring oversight 24×7 of the more than 460 millions of passengers who use the city's transport every year. An installation that was commissioned by the TTC to the integrator Advanced.

This control room required a safe solution that was easy to maintain and the Delta Rear Projection LED solution responded to these requirements. This video wall of 80 inches long is divided into several sections. Every display, rear projection, works independently so that if one has any problems the rest of the videowall remains functional. LED light source ensures that you do not need lamps that need to be replaced over the life of the display.

Advanced videowall by Delta Display on TTCMaintenance is also easy as these 'cubes' offer back access that does not affect the display shown on the front. So it is possible to change or repair a cube without affecting the rest of the video wall, a process that is extremely important in this type of operation”, explains Marcos McPherson, Vice President of Advanced.

The installation of the video wall in the TTC control room posed different challenges to Advanced. The video wall had to be adapted according to the concave curvature of the wall, what required tailor-made engineering. Secondly, Delta LED backprojection hubs are smaller than previous systems, so each new one of them had to be custom made with two sections flanking each side.

Being a mission-critical room, operational 24×7, during the installation process it was not possible that it would stop working so Advanced supplied for this time period a video wall configured with LCD displays of Nec seamless and ultra-thin bezel. In this way, TTC employees could continue to monitor Toronto's public transportation system for as long as the implementation lasted.
