With Horus, Indra provides intelligent traffic systems to control the six tunnels and 10 bridges of the new Mexican highway. This solution integrates CCTV systems, traffic counters, road signs, Communications, SOS poles, fire detection, lighting control, ventilation and public address.

Tranasporte Smart System

The newly opened Necaxa-Tihuatlán road in 283 kilometers in length allows to reduce travel times to connect Mexico City with the municipality of Tuxpan in Veracruz, which translates into fuel economy and lower operating costs for cargo vehicles. A journey that consists of two sections: Necaxa-Avila Camacho 36,6 km and the one that covers from Avila Camacho to Tihuatlán of 48.1km.

Indra Necaxa Tihuatan roadIndra has been the company responsible for installing traffic management technology in the six tunnels that make up this highway and has implemented intelligent traffic systems (ITS), control and communications for those near 85 kilometers comprising the stretch 1 To 2 this way. In this project, with an amount of 14 millions of euros, Indra participates as a technology partner of Auneti (Necaxa-Tihuatlán Highway), forming a joint venture with FCC.

Traffic management of the two sections in which this road is divided is carried out from the operational control center of El Piñal, where Indra has implemented its Horus solution that allows you to centrally control the different systems arranged in the tunnels, designed according to European regulations that guarantee maximum safety and operability, both in day-to-day management and in emergencies.

With Indra technology, operators can monitor the state of the road at all times and have real-time information for decision-making. In addition, drivers are offered greater safety and quality of service, helping to reduce the risk of incidents, optimizing resource utilization during their attention and showing them real-time information.

The Horus solution integrates the different intelligent traffic systems (ITS) with which Indra has equipped the highway, such as CCTV systems (Cctv), traffic counters, road signs, Communications, SOS poles, fire detection, lighting control, ventilation and public address.

Indra incorporates advanced automatic incident detection systems throughout the Necaxa-Tihuatlán highway, facilitate immediate reaction to events that may jeopardize user safety or road traffic.

A video surveillance system with automatic incident detection, as well as air quality measurement equipment, fire detection and weather stations, that through different alarms warn in case of emergency are some examples of these systems that allow to take the most appropriate measures, vehicles transit bidirectionally on a single carriageway if necessary, without interrupting circulation.

Tunel Necaxa-TihuatlanThe solution implemented by Indra also includes variable signalling systems, informing drivers in real time about the state of the track, speed limits and incidents. Tunnels also feature visibility sensors, an artificial lighting system, emergency and evacuation, as well as power generators and backup power plants to address any contingencies.

This new contract strengthens Indra's presence in Mexico's transport and traffic market, where it has developed projects such as the implementation of the remote control system and intelligent traffic systems in the Bicentennial Elevated Viaduct, ticketing and security systems on Mexico's Suburban Railroad or the toll and ITS system for the Arco Norte Libramiento and mexico's Outer Circuit,
