Berlin Zoofenster relies on Bosch for its comprehensive security system
Bosch has been responsible for designing and implementing an integrated fire detection and intrusion solution at the Berlin Zoofenster, Video surveillance, access control and electro-acoustic systems, in addition to implementing a central management that responds to the different needs of users.
Located at the intersection of the Kurfürstendamm, in Berlin's Charlottenburg district, the Zoofenster skyscraper, designed by Christoph Mäckler and Richard Rogers, combines avant-garde architecture with urban style. Inside this building of 24.280 square meters, west of the city, is located the five-star Waldorf Astoria hotel, as well as numerous shops, restaurants and offices. The building earns its name as "the window of the zoo" as its many windows offer a panoramic view of the nearby Berlin Zoo.
A building of such dimensions required a complex security system that responded to the different requirements of the different businesses it houses. "Network connectivity and the integration of the different security systems was a key criterion in choosing the partner for this project," explains André Pernhold, Executive Director of City Asset Management and advisor to the design and construction of the Zoofenster.
The partner chosen for this project was Bosch which was responsible for designing and implementing an integrated fire and intrusion detection solution, Video surveillance, access control, electro-acoustic systems and a central management system that is focused on the different needs of users. The design of this security system was a real challenge since the hotel, shopping mall and offices have different requirements.
The highlight of the comprehensive system is the complex fire protection system, Implemented with different networked exchanges. In addition, The fire detection system has a matrix that manages the more than 4.000 Checkpoints and Covering 270 different scenarios with 1.6 Millions of links.
