The Port Authority of Vigo (APV) has installed a new video wall in the port's Control Centre to improve the operations and security of its infrastructures, supplied and installed by Portel Eixo Atlántico. The new audio-visual system, from which video surveillance cameras are managed and monitored, It is part of the comprehensive protection plan for all the port's facilities, which has become the fourth in Spain to have a comprehensive security system.

The port control centre of the Port of Vigo, located in the Alberto Durán maritime station of this Galician city, It now has a video wall system, in configuration 2×4 with 32" screens, Supplied and installed by the company Portel Eixo Atlántico, to improve the operability and safety of your infrastructures.

The president of the Port Authority, Ignacio López-Chaves, has been in charge of inaugurating and showing the new video wall of the Control Center, from which the centre's operators monitor (24×7 and in three shifts) The images of the 150 IP video surveillance cameras (Fixed and mobile) of the firm Plettac Electronics distributed throughout its facilities and perimeter, as well as access control of vehicles and license plates.

From the Control Centre, all information and services related to internal security are centrally controlled and managed (organization of the PAV) and external (Port Users), channelling the procedures to resolve any incident. The comprehensive management system is based on, among others, In 159 IP cameras and port access control cameras (pedestrian and road traffic), It is based on a network of photoelectric cells installed in the fence that surrounds the enclosure and supported by a fibre optic network infrastructure. Added to this is the AIS system (Automatic Vessel Identification), covering the entire Atlantic coast of the Iberian Peninsula, whereby the identification and exact position in real time of each vessel equipped with this system is known, permanently monitoring the waters of the port and surroundings, as well as the Communications Integration System with Public Emergency Services (with network lines, trunking and recording of communications).

Currently, the Port Authority of Vigo is the fourth in Spain to have a comprehensive protection and security plan (Melilla, Almeria and Palma de Mallorca already have it), Approved in January 2013 by the Ministry of the Interior in compliance with international regulations and European directives, which provides for coordination measures between the different security forces and bodies of the State, the constitution of committees and the control of access to terminals (Travellers and goods), of the perimeter and the maritime zone.
