Kontron has introduced its first ultra-low power ARM-based Computer-on-Module specifically designed to provide its capabilities to new modules with ARM and SoC processors. The Kontron ULP-COM-sAT30 is a low-profile solution that measures 82 X 50 mm and integrates NVIDIA Tegra technology 3 Quad Core ARM by 1.2 GHz to deliver an advanced building block, ruggedized and scalable in industrial tablets and image management applications (imaging-centric), as POS / POI, infotainment, digital signage, Security / vigilance, defence and health. The NVIDIA Tegra processor combination 3 ARM and ARM output pin / Optimized ULP-COM SoC enables designers to create passively ventilated systems that dramatically reduce consumption and costs.

The Kontron ULP-COM-sAT30 uses a 314 Pin (MXM 3.0) which helps deliver a low-profile solution with a card-to-card separation of 1.5 mm and total height of 5.7 Mm. This connection method allows robust and economical designs to have a slim construction.. This ARM module provides support for 'high-end' graphics through interfaces for dual displays with decoding (MPEG2) and HD video encoding, Ultra-low-power NVIDIA GeForce GPU with dual display drivers and 2D and 3D acceleration.

The ULP-COM-sAT30 also features LCD 18 / 24 Bit, LVDS single channel 18 / 24 bit for "flexible display" and LVDS (carrier board xmitter) of 24 bit and HDMI for dual cannel. Features are completed with camera support via two CSI-2 ports. In addition, Kontron provides support to its customers in the development and evaluation phases through the ULP-COM Evaluation Carrier card and a pe-validated evaluation platform with ULP-COM modules.

The evaluation platform includes the Kontron Computer-on-Module ULP-COM-sAT30, the ULP-COM Evaluation Carrier card, Pre-loaded Linux operating system and a 10.6" display with 1280 resolution×768. The new module is based on ULP-COM (Ultra Low Power Computer-on-Module), a specification that has recently joined SGET (Standardization Group for Embedded Technologies). Kontron has spearheaded the development of the new standard that is receiving the backing of the embedded industry..
