AXIS Q7424-R, highly resilient video encoder optimized for demanding environments

Axis Communications has added to its catalog of video encoders the new AXIS Q7424-R, offering a rugged solution suitable for a wide variety of demanding applications.

Axis Communications has announced an addition to its family of video encoders. This new video encoder is especially suitable for demanding applications such as traffic monitoring, those of citizen surveillance, airports or train stations.

The new AXIS Q7424-R has been specifically designed to be installed in demanding environments and complies with the American NEMA TS-2 standard for temperature, vibration and shock. This new video encoder supports an operating temperature range ranging from -40 ºC to +75 OC.

Network video in professional facilities

AXIS Q7424-R encodes from one to four analog video sources and provides outstanding performance to realize the benefits of network video technology in professional installations. This new video encoder supports key features of IP video such as video compression in H.264 and Motion JPEG formats, two-way audio, storage capabilities on the device itself thanks to its integrated SD/SDHC memory card slot and Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3 Af). In addition, this video encoder incorporates an SFP slot of 1 GB per second for fiber optic connection, as well as an Ethernet port.

AXIS Q7424-R offers powerful event management capabilities with embedded intelligent video features such as tampering alarm, motion and audio detection, plus support for Axis Camera Application Platform applications on one of the video channels. This new video encoder includes support for cameras with horizontal movement, vertical and zoom, allowing you to control analog PTZ cameras. For greater network interface flexibility, AXIS Q7424-R can be used in conjunction with AXIS T8604 Media Conversion Switch, which provides two SPF slots and 2 Ethernet ports.

AXIS Q7424-R is supported by AXIS Camera Station video management software, as well as the industry's largest software application base through axis' application development partner program (Axis' Application Development Partner program). This video encoder also supports the ONVIF specification for the interoperability of network video products.. Axis Q7424-R New Video Encoder and AXIS T8604 Media Converter Switch are expected to be available through Axis Communications' regular sales channels throughout March 2012.
