Today's businesses rely on wireless networks and internet access to enable their employees to do their jobs as productively as possible. According to an IDC report, during the first trimester of 2011 there was a growth of a 20,7 percent in the Wireless LAN market, which shows the increasing importance that wireless networks are acquiring in all areas. However, and despite the trend that places Wireless N technology as the de facto wireless standard, Many companies still have networks based on previous standards, mainly due to the cost of migrating to Wireless N.

As a response to this problem, D-Link has announced its new Centralized Wireless solution, composed of the DWC-1000 wireless controller and the unified access points that can be integrated with it: DWL-3600AP, DWL-6600AP and the existing DWL-8600AP. These new solutions will help companies deploy, easily manage and secure a complete, high-performance wireless network across multiple locations and offices under the umbrella of Wireless N technology, centrally.

D-Link DWC-1000

The DWC-1000 controller has been designed for SMEs as well as for delegations or chain stores. Its function is to centrally manage and control up to six Access Points, with the possibility of reaching up to 24 through additional licenses. It also allows you to create a cluster of up to 4 of these controllers to manage up to 96 Access Points in a unified way. This means that businesses have a network solution that can grow as their needs increase, and that can be managed from a central and single point. The DWC-1000 controller enables network administrators to manage and service the wireless network flexibly and centrally, reducing the work of individual management of each of the access points, allowing a single configuration to be replicated for all the units that are needed.

D-Link's DWC-1000 Offers Enterprises and Organizations a Balanced Investment Alternative to Unified Switching Solutions, providing easy remote management of wireless parameters, such as changing encryption keys and passwords, allowing for fast roaming between access points (improving the quality of applications such as voice over IP) and providing automatic channel adjustment without the need to reconfigure each access point individually. And as new Access Points are added, the DWC-1000 can detect them automatically, Reconfiguring channel assignment, allowing administrators to save themselves the task of manually assigning them.

Antonio Navarro, Marketing and Sales Director of D-Link Iberia, has commented on it: "D-Link has a heritage of global leadership in the unified switching market, and we are proud to be able to apply this experience to the wireless field, to provide businesses with a more cost-effective and easier way to centrally manage their wireless networks. With the new DWC-1000 controller, businesses can expand their network and add Access Points as their needs grow, in a simple and flexible way, Also guaranteeing, maximum security of the same.”.

Unified Access Points

Complementing the Controller, D-Link introduces a complete range of state-of-the-art Unified Access Points such as the DWL-3600AP, DWL-6600AP and DWL-8600AP. These Access Points can work as Stand Alone, or be centrally managed by the DWC-1000. All three models are PoE (Power over Ethernet) and support Wireless N technology. For businesses that need bandwidth-intensive services or critical traffic management, as a video stream, video conferencing or VoIP, both the DWL-6600 and DWL-8600 are Quadband, providing the highest possible prioritization and quality in such applications, by operating simultaneously in the two frequency bands (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) to provide throughputs of up to 600Mbps.

"The launch of these solutions reinforces D-Link as a clear leader in enterprise Wireless N technology. It is a further step that complements our current Wireless Switching solutions and allows our customers to have a new alternative to cover any need or project that arises with D-Link", added Antonio Navarro.
