Axis unveils PTZ network camera for video surveillance in desert environments
Axis has added to its product catalog the new AXIS Q60-C series IP cameras designed to withstand the weather conditions associated with desert environments. These chambers support an operating temperature range 70oC to -20oC and are intended for use in construction environments, mining and oil and gas extraction sites, to monitor pipelines and pipelines, and for citizen video surveillance applications.
Axis Communications has introduced the new AXIS Q60-C PTZ network domes that incorporate active cooling for reliable, image-based video surveillance in desert environments. These horizontally moving cameras, vertical and high-speed zoom, powerful zoom capabilities and resolutions up to HDTV 1080p can operate in temperatures up to 75oC.
With capabilities to withstand sandstorms, these new easy-to-install and highly compact IP cameras meet U.S. military standard MIL-STD-810G. These new products have been specially designed for use in construction environments, mining and oil and gas extraction sites, to monitor pipelines and pipelines, and for citizen video surveillance applications.
Eloina Weijl, Axis Communications Iberia Marketing Manager, noted that "today desert areas account for one-third of the total land area and in them we find sites dedicated to mining, oil and gas extraction areas, pipelines and pipelines as well as urban settlements that require video surveillance cameras that can withstand extreme heat and harsh conditions such as sandstorms".
"In such environments, for a camera with moving parts it is critical to be able to have an operating temperature high enough to ensure its reliable and optimal performance. The main reason for this is that a camera that is directly exposed to the sun can heat up to a temperature 15 grades higher than their outdoor environment, with what in conditions where the air temperature is 45oC can mean that the chamber has to operate at a temperature of 60oC or higher. A camera with horizontal motion, vertical and zoom that has not been designed to operate under such conditions will suffer additional wear and possibly have a shorter life cycle", Eloina Weijl concludes.
AXIS Q60-C series cameras can operate in a temperature range ranging from 75oC to -20oC and its advanced temperature control system can handle rapid temperature changes and eliminate condensation. These cameras are IP66 and NEMA 4X ratings and are dust and water resistant and do not require any additional housing. These cameras support the environmental conditions included under the US military standard MIL-STD-810G, that specifies aspects such as sudden changes in temperature, exposure to solar radiation and sand.
AXIS Q60-C camera can be connected to a media conversion switch (supplied with the product) which includes two SFP fiber optic slots and two RJ-45 connectors that give installers the flexibility to connect it to the network economically and chainly over long distances and using fiber optics or standard network cabling. The media conversion switch also allows the camera to connect to external alarm devices via two configurable input/output ports and 12V power supply.
The new AXIS Q60-C series models are AXIS Q6032-C (offering extended D1 resolution and optical zoom capabilities 35 Increases), AXIS Q6034-C (HDTV 720p resolution and optical zoom 18 Increases) AXIS Q6035-C (with resolution up to HDTV 1080p and optical zoom capabilities 20 Increases). These cameras support day/night functionality, wide dynamic range (Wide Dynamic Range), H.264 and Motion JPEG, automatic guard rounds, alarm management and video content analysis capabilities such as object tracking, active gatekeeper and other analytical applications coming from Axis' partner network. These cameras are ONVIF compatible and supported by AXIS Camera Station video management software, as well as the largest base of software applications through Axis' Application Development Partner Program.
